Skhweyiya retires from parliamentary politics

6 May 2009

ANC National Executive Committee member and outgoing Minister of Social Development Zola Skweyiya is retiring from parliamentary politics.

He will therefore not be sworn in as a Member of Parliament today (6 May 2009).

The ANC`s officials were informed of his decision, due to health reasons, some months ago.

Skweyiya will continue to serve as a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and remain involved in the work of the organisation.

The ANC wishes to express its appreciation for Skweyiya`s tireless service to the country since he was first elected to Parliament in 1994.
