Death of King Moshoeshoe II

The African National Congress has learned with great sadness of the untimely and tragic death this morning of King Moshoeshoe II of Lesotho.

King Moshoeshoe occupied a prominent position in the recent history of the southern African subcontinent. during this period the fortunes of his people have been inextricably tied up with those of South Africans. As such we join the people of Lesotho in mourning their loss.

The ANC extends, in particular, its deepest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of King Moshoeshoe.
