ANC update on meetings with members from the Eastern Cape and Free State Province

06 March 2018

The African National Congress Head Office on Monday the 5th of March 2018, held separate engagements with members from the Eastern Cape and the Free State Provinces. The members came to express a number of organisational issues

Eastern Cape

ANC National Officials met with members of the ANC from the Eastern Cape who had travelled to the Head Office to seek an update on the report and outcomes of the team led by Comrade Sbu Ndebele, tasked with the investigation into the outcomes of the 2017 ANC EC Provincial Conference. The Meeting was constructive and the comrades accepted the advise by the National Officials to await the proper processing of the report by the National Executive Committee.

Free State

Two contending groups of members of the ANC from the Free State Province visited Head Office to make submissions on a range of issues they believe warranted the attention of the National Leadership. ANC NEC and NWC Member who is also the Head of Organising, Comrade Senzo Mchunu was tasked to receive the submission which will be accordingly processed internally and the necessary feedback will be conveyed to the members in due course.

During the visit another group of members where heard and seen singing derogatory songs. The ANC therefore calls on all of its members to conduct themselves in a disciplined manner and raise issues within the available organisational platforms at their disposal.

Derogatory gestures and songs deemed to erode the Unity and Renewal of our structures will not be tolerated and that in this regard relevant structures assigned the task to manage discipline must immediately act against members who visibly displayed instances of transgression and have brought the organisations name into disrepute.

The ANC will act decisively to restore discipline within its ranks and that members are encouraged to display acceptable levels of conduct at all times.

The ANC has at all times protected and respected the right of members to raise issues in a disciplined and peaceful manner.
