ANC mourns the passing of Ambassador Faith Radebe and sends condolences to the family
14 March 2018
The African National Congress is deeply saddened by the passing on of Ambassador Faith Radebe after battling with cancer. Ambassador Radebe passed on early yesterday at home after an intense battle to overcome the illness.
On the time of her passing, she was serving the country as Ambassador to Sweden, following her full term of service as Inspector-General of Intelligence. Prior to her role as Inspector-General, she was South Africa's Ambassador to the Caribbean countries where she served the country with distinction.
Ambassador Radebe is one of the cadres who underwent military training and she has an illustrious record of serving the liberation movement in various capacities. Notably, she emerged as a astute diplomat whose talents have put the country on a favorable and respected platform by the world community.
Her departure has not only robbed us of a committed South African, but also of an advocate for a nation that still has a role in transforming world multilateral governance institutions through progressive diplomacy.
The ANC thanks her family for having afforded us her time and for the commitment she played so unselfishly. It is through her role and wisdom in concert with many South Africans that we will champion a course for a better world order. While we mourn her departure, let us also celebrate a life of servitude. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
