Key Events in the ANC
Beware of the tale bearers
The Mail & Guardian had published an article insinuating a rift between the President and the Secretary General. This was followed by another writing that had anonymous sources in the NEC - referring to discussions that took place in the NEC meeting of September 2014 - supporting such a view. Our late President OR Tambo had cautioned against people who sow divisions in the movement, especially if we seek to emulate leaders of his calibre and stature. This is how the Secretary General responded, he response is still relevant today.
In Parliament the ANC must keep its eyes on the prize of radical socio-economic transformation
In the fifth democratic Parliament, which commenced in May of this year, South Africans have witnessed what is supposed to be reasonedand robust debate degenerate to the point of disruption, anarchy and chaos. Some in our society have found this amusing or exciting, including some in the media and have gone on to describe it as "robustness", which is a travesty and does injustice to the notion of "robust debate".
Last week the Department of Arts and Culture went to Russia on official visit, our Embassy had organised event that mark our twenty years of Democracy. As part of those celebrations, we also celebrated the life and times of Madiba; honouring the founding father of our nation and iconic international statesman. However, in moments like this, we should perhaps start from the beginning. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela we honour today has roots. On countless occasions during his lifetime he asserted that he is a member of the African National Congress
Madiba as an embodiment of the ANCís value system
Through his contribution to our struggle, Nelson Mandela was a living embodiment of the values of loyalty, integrity, selflessness, humility and honesty, writes Gugile Nkwinti.
Released after the NEC meeting which was held on the 19 - 21 September 2014
The NEC Bulletin was initiated to ensure that members of the ANC and Alliance partners are informed of the decisions taken by the National Executive Committee.
This is important in that the NEC is the highest decision making organ of the organisation.
This edition of the NEC Bulletin focus on the meeting of the National Executive of the ANC, held 19 - 21 September 2014.
